Saint Peter

Fisherman. Renamed "Peter" (rock) by Jesus to indicate that Peter would be the rock-like foundation on which the Church would be built. Bishop. Miracle worker. First Pope. He was the first person to whom Jesus asked thrice, ''Do you love me?'' He denied Jesus thrice and cried bitterly for it throughout his life. He was crucified and hung upside down on the cross. It is believed Christ gave him the keys of heaven.
